Jennifer Lesser
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Lesser serves as the founder and primary veterinarian of 4Paws Mobile Veterinary Care. She values relationships with patients and their families, critical diagnostic thinking, and the ability to adapt to diverse pet personalities and their environments.
Dr. Lesser earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She briefly explored genetic research, contributing to the Hume Genome Project at the National Institutes of Health but quickly found her calling in clinical medicine and patient care. Her professional background is rooted in comprehensive small animal care, with a strong focus on preventative health, acute illness and chronic disease management, along with end-of-life support. Her ability to deliver high-quality veterinary services beyond the walls of a traditional clinic reflects her dedication to meeting pets where they are most comfortable.
When not on the road caring for her patients, Dr. Lesser is cheering on her three kids in their various activities, navigating local trails on her mountain bike, and spending as much time as possible with her beloved dog enjoying the outdoors—though according to her dog, it’s never quite enough.
Heidi Durkee,
Head Veterinary Nurse & Mobile Unit Navigator
Heidi serves as our head veterinary nurse and is the primary navigator and driver of our mobile unit. With a wealth of experience in animal care, Heidi plays a crucial role in ensuring that each pet receives compassionate, thorough attention during every visit.
As the designated driver of our mobile clinic, Heidi expertly navigates from home to home… though she’s been known to take the scenic route between calls. (We like to think she’s just making sure we don’t miss any good views.)
Her dedication to both animal care and mobile operations keeps 4Paws running smoothly.

Most initial consultations for a single pet take about an hour from start to finish. Almost all visits will be attended by veterinarian, Dr. Jennifer Lesser and nurse, Heidi. We make every effort to keep the examination and treatment time relaxed and thorough. We aim for treats, play, rubs and gentle examination. Many of our patients love the experience so much that they’re reluctant to leave us after their visit—and we enjoy every moment of that!

Our mobile clinic is fully equipped to provide wellness and sick exams, submit lab work (blood work, cytology, culture, biopsy), vaccinate, take x-rays and perform various treatments for both healthy and sick pets. Treatments may include administration of fluids and medications, minor laceration repairs, small mass removals, porcupine quill removals (reserving the most severe cases for the ER).

It’s entirely up to you! We can meet in our van which is warm, cozy and very inviting. Your pet can even sit in the driver’s seat if they wish. Or we can bring our things into your home to attend to your pet’s needs that day. Some appointments will utilize both our van and your home, as your pet may benefit from both spaces.

Yes, of course. We work with several online pharmacies and find they provide good products, fair pricing and quick delivery. Additionally, we carry the majority of regularly prescribed medications and routine preventatives, which are available if you need them at the time of your appointment.

To avoid burnout, and to keep my mind sharp for scheduled appointments throughout the week, I only occasionally see patients after hours, though I am very good at answering the phone or texting to help guide clients through symptoms and whether they should be seen at the ER. For true emergencies, patients likely need full overnight monitoring and care which is best provided by an emergency department. I have worked at BEVS in Williston for the past 4 years and highly recommend their 24/7 emergency service, coupled with specialty service when needed. Also, CAVES provides very good emergency and critical care. SAVES in Lebanon and LAVES in Littleton are excellent for less critical, urgent care cases.
-
Yes, we can apply a herd health approach to households who have many pets, for whom they would like "just the basics" without comprehensive assessment of each. Please contact us to discuss details, and how we best accommodate you.

I love being independent, even with the long hours of being a solo business owner! There is no private equity or corporate involvement with 4Paws, nor will there be in the future.
