What to Expect During Your Pet's Visit
Most appointments take about an hour from start to finish. Almost all visits will be attended by our veterinarian, Dr. Jennifer Lesser and nurse, Heidi. They both have been in the Upper Valley for many years and one or both may be familiar to you.
We can meet in our van which is warm, cozy and (we hope!) very inviting. Your pet can even sit in the driver’s seat if they wish. Or we can bring our things into your home to attend to your pet’s needs that day.
It’s all up to you.
We make every effort to keep the examination and treatment time relaxed but thorough. We aim for treats, play, rubs and gentle examination. Many of our patients love the experience so much that they’re reluctant to leave us after their visit—and we enjoy every moment of that!
Our mobile clinic is fully equipped to provide wellness and sick exams, submit lab work (blood work, cytology, culture, biopsy), vaccinate, and perform various treatments for both healthy and sick pets. Treatments may include administration of fluids and medications, minor laceration repairs, small mass removals, some porcupine quill removals (reserving the most severe cases for the ER). We will soon be offering x-rays as well.
We refer cases needing major surgical procedures, complete ultrasounds, CT or MRIs to trusted partner hospitals and specialists.
If your pet needs a referral, we can be your concierge to connect you to the facility that best serves your pet’s needs and is in a location accessible to you. Because specialists can be difficult to access, we will make calls for you when the situation is emergent.
Kind Words from Clients
“Dr. Jen and Heidi were both great and my furbaby wasn't super stressed thanks to them being a mobile vet.”
“We are so happy to have found you. The visits were stress free for Bailey and for us. I love the ability to have house calls instead of going to a clinic as it is less stressful, and Bailey did not seem anxious at all. We were so happy that you were able to meet both Bailey and Winny and the whole family, even though you were there to treat Bailey. I have been around long enough to remember house calls from Doctors and Vets, and there is nothing better. Thank you.”
“Thank you so much for making the trip - we need more like you in my area. Now my new girl can get use to her home without the pain in her feet. ”
A Dog’s Totally Unbiased Opinion on Mobile Vet Visits
"OH WOW, PEOPLE ARE HERE! FOR ME? THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER!"
At first, I thought it was a surprise party. I mean, strangers at the door? That usually means snacks, belly rubs, and someone accidentally dropping food. But then I saw the bag. The vet bag. The one with the thermometer.
Wait… am I at the vet? Or is the vet at me? 🤔
Pros of Mobile Vet Visits (aka “The Good Stuff”):
No car ride. No weird motion sickness. No sitting on the crunchy paper at the clinic. Just chilling on my couch, where I reign supreme.
Still get treats. A+ snack distribution. I do a sit, I get a treat. I do nothing, I get a treat. Honestly, solid system.
I’m the star. No other dogs to steal my thunder. It’s all about me—just like it should be.
Cons of Mobile Vet Visits (aka “Mild Inconveniences”):
They still check my temperature. (If you know, you know.)
I was so excited I accidentally wagged my whole body into a lamp. Not ideal.
Would I recommend it?
100/10. Would greet with tail wags, sloppy kisses, and zero personal space again.
A Cat’s Honest Review of Mobile Vet Visits
"Oh great, the vet is here… in my house. Fantastic."
Look, I didn’t ask for this. One minute, I’m napping in my sunbeam, dreaming about overthrowing the dog, and the next—BAM—strangers with stethoscopes in my living room. No warning. No car ride to mentally prepare myself with a solid 20 minutes of dramatic yowling.
But, I’ll admit… it’s not all bad.
No carrier. You know, that tiny plastic box that compresses my dignity into a cube? Yeah, didn’t need it.
No weird smells. Just the comforting aroma of my house: Eau de Me.
Immediate hiding options. Feel stressed? Boom—under the bed in 0.3 seconds. Your move, Dr. Sneaky.
Sure, they’re still poking and prodding, but at least I can glare at them from the comfort of my own throne (aka, the laundry basket). Plus, they’re surprisingly respectful—gentle, patient, even a little complimentary. They said I had “excellent whisker symmetry.” Finally, someone notices.
So, would I recommend mobile vet visits?
On the record: “No, absolutely not. How dare you.”
Off the record: “It’s actually not the worst thing. 8/10, would tolerate again.”
